About Brownsville Oregon…
Brownsville is a town with an old school community feel, people greet you
with a friendly smile and a wave as you pass through. This is a place where
“neighborhood watch” actually means something. Not only do you feel a
sense of safety but it is also filled with features enjoyed on a daily
basis as well as fun annual events. The beautiful Pioneer Park is a clean
and well maintained place where you can take children to have fun on play
structures or take pets to open areas to walk and run. In the summer the
Calapooia River that runs the perimeter of the park is a great place for
family fun or to throw a stick for your dog. The list of annual events is
long and each year seems to have a better turn out than the last. Through
the summer months and into the fall there is a Saturday market held down
town with anything from fruits and vegetables to soaps and homemade salsa.
The 4th of July celebration begins with a community pancake breakfast at
the park followed by a fireworks show when the sun goes down. In June
Brownsville holds the “Pioneer Picnic” at the park with game and food
booths, complete with a community parade around town. “Carriage Me Back”
tours the historic sites by (you guessed it) a horse drawn carriage.
Brownsville also hosts the “Country Music Festival” in the summer. You can
check out the historic Moyer House with a guided tour or visit the museum.
While your there grab a map to take self guided tours. See the old covered
bridges or the shooting locations for the film “Stand By Me”. Take photo’s
next to the tree that held the tree house the boys hung out in or in front
of the old Coke-a-Cola sign (I recommend watching the movie and then taking
the tour).
Within walking distance you can find a place to get a hair cut, a cup of
coffee with fresh baked pastries at Randy’s (super yummy peach coffee
cake), a pharmacy with all sorts of cool gifts, a burger and fries served
hot at the Saloon, or stop by the library and check out a variety of
books. Just passing through? Drive through Divine Coffee and grab a
freshly made breakfast sandwich, a cup of joe, all served up with a smile
to take with you.
Located right off of I-5, Eugene, Albany, Corvallis, and Lebanon are an
easy drive. You can be just minutes away from the city but enjoy quiet
country style living.
Brownsville is a unique one of a kind town that welcomes you to come, slow
down, and enjoy all it has to offer.
